Fabrica hosts its annual Spring exhibition featuring immersive artworks shaped around the Grade II listed building.
Fabrica is gearing up to launch its annual exhibition cycle, starting soon with the Spring exhibition on 2026-04-01. If you're familiar with the city's cultural spots, you know Fabrica is nestled right in the historic lanes at 40 Duke Street, housed within that striking Grade II listed building. This particular exhibition usually runs from April through May, setting the tone for their three major annual shows. It’s a key part of their mission to be a space where everyone, regardless of age or ability, can experience art, making it a welcoming spot for families and the wider community, including being LGBT friendly.

What makes the Spring exhibition consistently interesting is its focus on immersive artworks that are specifically designed and shaped around the historic architecture of the building itself. They manage to strike a balance in their curation, featuring both newly commissioned emerging artists alongside celebrated international names. If you plan on visiting, the gallery is open Wednesday to Sunday, running from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Just remember they remain closed on Mondays and Tuesdays during the exhibition period. Beyond the main installation, Fabrica also maintains a robust program of events throughout the run, which often includes film screenings, talks, group discussions, and various community gatherings.
It’s helpful to know that Fabrica operates as a registered charity. While entry to the main exhibition is often accessible (they encourage online booking and donations), the revenue generated from their café, bar, shop sales, and venue hire directly supports the artists and their valuable community work. They also prioritize accessibility, offering excellent facilities including access to all areas for disabled visitors, accessible toilets, ramps, and an induction loop system. They even allow guide dogs and have staff trained in disability awareness. This commitment to being welcoming was recognized when they were commended in the Small Visitor Attraction category at the Beautiful South Awards in December 2022.
