A hands-on jewellery making workshop where participants design, pierce, shape and solder silver to create their own solid silver ring.
Rare Thing is running a Silver Ring Making Workshop at East Street Arcade in the South Lanes on Sunday 12 July, and it's exactly what it sounds like: you spend the afternoon making your own ring from scratch. It's a four-hour session, running from 12:00 to 16:00, and you'll walk away with a solid silver ring you made yourself.

If you've never touched a piece of jewellery equipment in your life, that's fine. You don't need any experience to join in; the whole point is to learn the basics as you go. Over the course of the afternoon, you'll design your ring, then drill, shape, and solder the silver until it's finished. It's a hands-on process, so you'll be doing the work yourself rather than just watching someone else do it.
There are a few practical things to keep in mind before you sign up. For insurance reasons, everyone has to be at least 16 on the day of the workshop. You'll also need to dress for the work: no open-toed shoes, and no long, loose sleeves that could get in the way while you're at the bench. If you're not sure about the 12 July date, there are other sessions coming up later in the summer on 26 July, 9 August, and 23 August.
A place at the workshop costs £95, and that covers everything you'll need for the day. The silver for your ring is included in the price, as are snacks, tea, and coffee, so there's nothing extra to pay on top. It runs from 12:00 to 16:00 at East Street Arcade, South Lanes, Brighton, BN1 1HR.
