Ryotei

Ryotei play Alphabet on Friday 16 October, a late one that runs from 22:30 through to 02:00. The night is put on by Clubnights, and the bill is headed by Ryotei, the project founded by Action At A Distance.

They've billed the night as 'a voyage into the sonic abyss', and the music they'll be working with is a broad one. The set draws from deep house, electronic, nu disco, new wave and electro, so it's less a single genre and more a few different dancefloor traditions running together. If you're familiar with those styles, you'll get the general shape of it: the steady, low-slung pulse of deep house, the brighter, funkier side of nu disco, and the sharper, synth-led edges of new wave and electro. It's a wide enough spread to keep the night moving across those five hours.

On the bill alongside them is Ilydai, so there's more than one name to keep track of across the session. The whole thing is promoted by Clubnights, who've put it together as a proper late-night affair rather than an early evening gig.

It all goes down at Alphabet, 11 Dyke Road, in Brighton. The music starts at 22:30 and carries on until 02:00, and tickets are between £5.00 and £7.00.
