Intimate all-ages evening with Irish vocalist Radie Peat, of Lankum and ØXN, with live music and a signing session around her debut solo record.
Radie Peat plays Resident Music on Thursday 3 December, an all-ages evening built around the release of her debut solo record. It's a live set and a signing, with the new album available to collect on the door on release day.
If you're coming from the folk end of things, you'll know her voice. Peat is one of Ireland's most revered vocalists, known for a powerful contralto, technical authority and emotional depth. She's a multi-instrumentalist who took up the concertina as a child, and she spent her early years singing and playing alongside her sisters at traditional Irish music sessions. From there she became close friends with Cormac Mac Diarmada; the two later joined Ian and Daragh Lynch to form Lankum, a cornerstone of contemporary Irish folk. More recently she formed the doom folk supergroup ØXN with Katie Kim, Eleanor Myler and John 'Spud' Murphy.
This is her first solo record, and the Brighton date is presented by Resident Music as an intimate, all-ages evening. The live performance and the signing are the two halves of the night, with the album itself available to pick up at the door on the day it comes out. It's a small-room kind of gig, and because it's all-ages, it's as much for the folk crowd as for anyone who's just following her work across Lankum and ØXN.
