Live stage show for young children and families inspired by the Pip and Posy picture books, with songs, puppetry and interactive play.
Pip and Posy Live on Stage comes to the Theatre Royal on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 February 2027, with matinees at 13:00 and 16:00 both days. It's a live stage show for families, and the title tells you exactly who it's for: the Pip and Posy picture books brought to life.
If the names ring a bell, it's because they're based on the books by Axel Scheffler, the illustrator behind The Gruffalo. The show also draws on the BAFTA-nominated animated series from Magic Light Pictures, so if your kids know the characters from the screen, they'll recognise them here. The story follows Pip and Posy, best friends whose whole world is play; they're joined by their friends Mo and Jamila as they set off on an adventure through tangled jungles, slimy swamps and high above the clouds aboard a big red balloon, while the Troll hunts for the treasure. It's built around the things the books are known for: imagination, kindness and creativity.
On stage, that translates into toe-tapping songs, puppetry and interactive play, so it's the kind of thing that keeps the little ones involved rather than just sitting still. The production comes from the same producers as The Smartest Giant in Town, so it's in the same vein of family theatre.
