Intimate homecoming headline gig and EP launch by Brighton-born R&B and soul singer-songwriter Orla Rae.
Orla Rae plays A L P H A B E T on Friday 23 October, a homecoming headline show in the city where she grew up. The night is presented by Global Soul, and it's an over-18s only event.
Rae is a Brighton-born singer-songwriter working across R&B, soul, pop and jazz, with a sound built on soulful vocals, rich harmonies and emotionally sharp songwriting. She lists Stevie Wonder, Jill Scott, Jazmine Sullivan and Victoria Monet as influences, and the set will draw from that same R&B and soul tradition. The show is an EP launch, and with her second EP due out in October, this is one of the first chances to hear the new material live.
She's been gaining momentum over the last few years, with her debut EP passing 300,000 streams and Spotify's R&B UK playlist covering it. She's also drawn attention for a standout performance at SXSW London, and she's been championed by BBC Radio 1Xtra, Reprezent Radio, KISS Xtra and Rinse FM. The night is billed as an intimate headline show, and as a homecoming, it's a return to the city where she started.
