Dark comedy about a cast waiting for press night reviews, with their own play unraveling into chaos, at The Lantern.
No Show runs at The Lantern Theatre on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 November, both nights starting at 21:00. It's a dark comedy from the same company that brought the sell-out hit RANK to the same stage, so if that one hit the mark for you, this is right up the same alley.
The play is set on a press night in a living room. The cast are gathered there, waiting for the reviews to come in, and as they wait, they start to unravel their own piece. Some of them realise the show might be more controversial than they first thought, and from there it all starts to come apart. Relationships are on the line, the dynamics shift, the drinks flow, and the whole evening descends into chaos as the players begin to question their own morality and reality. There's a bit of a meta edge to it, too: the show may never be performed again, depending on what the reviews say.
It's a small-cast, single-room setup, so the focus stays on the people in the room and how they change over the course of the night. If you're into the kind of comedy that gets a bit darker as it goes, this should fit the bill.
