Learning How to Dive

Brendan Murray brings Learning How To Dive to The Lantern Theatre on Saturday 24 October, the play he wrote and stars in himself. It's presented by Damn Cheek Productions, run by co-artistic directors Darren Cheek and Karen Spicer, and directed by Willie Elliott.

Murray is a multi-award-winning playwright, and Learning How To Dive is a tender, witty story about love, identity and the courage to be yourself. It follows three people brought together by shared loss, buried truths and the unexpected possibilities of connection. The Guardian has described him as one of the country's most compassionate dramatists, and the play has been compared to the work of Alan Bennett or Victoria Wood. It won the London Theatre1 Plunge award and has been praised by critics as tense, tender and darkly funny.

This Brighton date comes after a sold-out London run, so it's arriving here with a bit of momentum behind it. The show is recommended for ages 12 and over.

It starts at 19:30 at The Lantern Theatre, 77 St James's Street, BN2 1PA. The running time is two hours, which includes a post-show Q&A, so you'll have a chance to hear from the people behind it after the curtain goes down. Standard tickets are £14.00.
