Night House consists of producer and composer Nick Williams, cellist Robin Squirrell, and double bassist Alfie Weedon. Their musical style is defined by a blend of electronic rhythms and orchestral arrangements, with a composition process that centres heavily on the lyrics. Their debut album, Everyone is watching from Afar, has received coverage from outlets including Clash Magazine, Attitude Magazine, and PRS for Music. The group has established a presence in the live circuit, having previously supported artists such as Ben Howard, Willy Mason, and Devendra Banhart. Their sound is characterised by the interplay between the electronic production and the acoustic strings, creating a distinct sonic environment.
Sekinue is the musical project of Fior Anderson, a multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter operating within the alternative folk scene. As a trans and queer artist, Anderson brings a specific perspective to their work, often utilising the lever harp to craft their sound. Their debut single, Knives, explores themes surrounding relationships and mental health. There is a clear creative link between the two acts on the bill, as Anderson is currently working on their first album with Night House serving as the producer. This collaboration highlights a shared approach to songwriting, which has been noted for its sense of musical intimacy and bold, sincere lyricism. The use of the lever harp in Anderson's compositions adds a unique texture to the alternative folk genre, distinguishing their live performances.
The event is hosted at the Brighton Unitarian Church, located on New Road, Brighton, BN1 1UF. The performance is scheduled to begin at 19:30. Tickets for the evening are priced at £5.00.
