A gentle outdoor workshop led by Brighton-based fine art photographer Eva Kalpadaki, focusing on mindful seeing, creativity and connection with the sea, part of Brighton Photo Fringe 2026.
Eva Kalpadaki is leading a mindful photography workshop on the Hove Seafront on Friday 23 October, from 15:00 to 17:00. It's part of Brighton Photo Fringe 2026, and it's a free taster session, so you'll need to book ahead since spaces are limited.
Kalpadaki is a Brighton-based fine art photographer, and this is a gentle outdoor workshop rather than a technical one. The focus is on mindful seeing, creativity and your connection with the sea, with simple exercises to help you slow down and become more present. You don't need any experience to take part, and you can bring a camera or just use your phone. It's aimed at anyone interested in photography, art, meditation, mindfulness or the sea.
Kalpadaki's own practice combines meditation and photography, and she explores stillness, time and the relationship between the photographer, the camera and the environment. The seafront is her 'happy place' and essential to her physical and mental wellbeing; she describes her work as bringing together her love of the sea, meditation and photography through a personal ritual, inspired by meditating daily by the water during the pandemic to maintain inner balance, clarity and connection.
