A series of festival favourites including silhouette puppetry and storytelling based on H.P. Lovecraft's works.
If you are looking for something a bit different to do in Brighton this July, the London Lovecraft Festival is bringing a selection of its programme down to the coast. On 10 July 2026, they are hosting an event called 'Lovecraft by the Sea' at The Yellow Book, located at 3a York Place. This is the first quarterly outing for the festival series, which aims to present some of their favourite performances in a more intimate setting than usual.

The evening is scheduled to run from 19:30 to 20:45 and features two distinct adaptations of H.P. Lovecraft’s work. The first piece is 'The Doom That Came to Sarnath', a silhouette puppetry performance created by TL Wiswell. This adaptation reimagines the original story through a lens of steam and ecological catastrophe. Following this, the programme continues with 'The Haunter of the Dark', an original adaptation by storyteller Ben Sohawon, which will be accompanied by experimental music from Kinga Janicka.
For those interested in attending, the standard ticket price is 12.00 pounds. Given the nature of the performances—combining puppetry, storytelling, and experimental sound—the event seems geared towards those with an interest in horror literature or experimental theatre. It is a straightforward setup: a focused programme of two adaptations in a local venue, offering a chance to see work that has been developed for the London Lovecraft Festival in a Brighton space.
