A comedy night featuring sketch, improv, character, physical and musical comedy, hosted by Leslie Bloom at The Yellow Book.
Extra Topping is back at The Yellow Book on the third Saturday of the month, starting at 7.30pm. It's a comedy night that describes itself as 'comedy, but ain't stand-up', and that's a fair way to put it. Rather than one person with a mic, it's a showcase that brings together sketch, improv, character, physical and musical comedy, along with anything a little bit different that fits the bill. If you're used to the usual stand-up circuit, this is a different animal entirely.
The night is hosted by Leslie Bloom, a Brighton favourite who bills herself as a fitness instructor, mother, investigator and occasional tarot card reader. She's the one who holds the evening together, and the showcase runs upstairs at The Yellow Book, which is at 3a York Place, BN1 4GU.
Because it's a showcase, the line-up changes from night to night. You'll get a mix of the different styles they work with โ sketch, improv, character, physical and musical comedy โ so you're likely to see a few different approaches in one sitting. It's less about a single act and more about the variety of things that fall under that 'not stand-up' umbrella.
