A comedy murder mystery show featuring crafted comedy, silliness, and whimsical improv where the audience is under suspicion.
If you are looking for something a bit different to do in Brighton this May, you might want to take a look at Leslie Bloom Solves a Murder. It is a comedy show that mixes scripted material with a fair amount of whimsical improv, all centred around a murder mystery. The story is set during the annual general meeting and fundraising gala for the Toddlingham neighbourhood, where things take a turn when the treasurer, Tony Rose, is found dead. The character Leslie Bloom, who represents the 'Toddle Watch Murder Division', leads the investigation, and the audience is essentially brought into the mix as suspects, which involves a fair bit of interrogation and incrimination.

The person behind the character is Simon Topping, an improviser and character comedian who founded Extra Topping Comedy back in 2022 and is also known for his work in the sketch duo Topping and Hards. The show runs for about 60 minutes and is taking place at Junk Poets at Caravanserai. There are two dates scheduled: 28 May 2026 and 30 May 2026, both starting at 20:30. It is worth noting that the organisers have set an age recommendation of 16+, and there is a strict policy regarding children, as those under two years old are not permitted.
Regarding the practical side of things, tickets are priced at £10 for a standard entry, with a concession rate of £8 available. Because the show relies on audience interaction and includes elements like strong language, loud noises, and depictions or references to violence, it is worth keeping those content warnings in mind before booking. It sounds like a fairly interactive evening if you enjoy that style of comedy where the line between the performer and the audience gets a little blurred.
