An 8-week comedy course for beginners and improvers to build confidence and performance skills in a supportive environment.
If you've been looking for a way to step out of your comfort zone this spring, Le Cluck is launching an eight-week course titled Confidence through Comedy at The Railway Inn in Brighton. Starting on Thursday, 5 March 2026, the programme is aimed at both total beginners and those who have dabbled in performance before but want to improve their skills. The sessions are held at 2 Station Road (BN41 1GA), offering a space where the focus is as much on personal development and self-assurance as it is on the mechanics of making people laugh. It’s a useful option for anyone who feels they have something to say but isn't quite sure how to structure it or deliver it to an audience.

The course structure is quite comprehensive, moving through various stages of comedy development over the two-month period. Participants can expect a mix of comedy writing workshops and playful group exercises that help break the ice. One of the more practical elements is the inclusion of one-to-one guidance and personalised feedback, which allows for a bit more focus on individual progress than a standard large-group class might offer. This setup means you can work on specific performance techniques and writing styles in a setting that prioritises a supportive atmosphere. The idea is to build up those performance skills gradually, using the group dynamic to test out material and gain confidence.
In terms of the schedule, the workshops take place every Thursday evening from 19:00 to 21:00. Following the start date on the 5th, there are confirmed sessions on the 12th, 19th, and 26th of March. Because the workshops are held in a pub environment in the evenings, the course is intended for an adult audience and isn't suitable for children. It is a paid event, and those interested will need to book their tickets online beforehand to secure a spot in the group. For anyone living in or around Brighton who spends their Thursdays looking for something more creative than the usual routine, this provides a consistent weekly slot to develop some new skills right by the station. It’s a straightforward way to spend a few hours a week focusing on a new hobby while meeting others with similar interests in a local setting.
