A 10-week weekly stand-up comedy course for ages 18+ by leading coach Jill Edwards, held at Komedia Brighton. Suitable for all levels.
If you’ve been looking for a creative outlet this autumn, or maybe you’ve always wanted to try your hand at stand-up comedy, the Jill Edwards Comedy Workshops are returning to Komedia Brighton for their Autumn 2026 course. Jill Edwards is a well-known name in UK comedy coaching, having established her workshops back in 1994 and running the stand-up course here in Brighton since 2005. It’s a program with a significant track record, having trained comedians who have gone on to become household names. This includes people like Romesh Ranganathan, Angela Barnes, Jimmy Carr, Shazia Mirza, and Seann Walsh. It’s a serious training ground operating right out of our local scene, offering a chance to learn from someone with decades of experience.

The course, officially titled the WEEKLY STAND-UP COMEDY COURSE, is structured to run over ten consecutive weeks, making it a substantial commitment for the fall. It kicks off on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, and the final session takes place exactly two months later, on November 24, 2026. All the learning happens at Komedia Brighton, located at 44-47 Gardner Street, with sessions typically held in the Komedia Studio or Basement area. If you’re planning your schedule around work or other commitments, the sessions are conveniently set for the evening, running consistently from 7:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.
The great thing about this workshop is that it’s genuinely open to everyone. Whether you consider yourself an 'absolute beginner with no experience' or you’re a newer comedian looking to refine your act, the curriculum is designed to cover practical techniques in both writing and performance. The only requirement for entry is that participants must be 18 years or older. Since this is a comprehensive, structured workshop, it is a paid course, and all bookings and specific inquiries need to be handled directly through Jill Edwards. Given the popularity and the history of the program, the recommendation is always to book well in advance, as these Brighton courses frequently sell out.
