An evening of blues, boogie and boogaloo with The Southern Slamdoor Band, Out of the Blue and DJ Blues Boy Bryden.
The Southern Slamdoor Band are back at the Railway Social Club on Saturday 12 September, playing alongside Out of the Blue and DJ Blues Boy Bryden. It's a double bill of Brighton blues, with the night starting at 19:30.
The Southern Slamdoor Band came together for a one-off gig in late 2022, when four musicians from different backgrounds found playing together so much fun they decided to keep it going. They've since become one of the city's most popular acts, known for their upbeat rhythm and blues, boogie and boogaloo. Out of the Blue, another local band, formed in the Sussex delta and is noted for rocking classic tunes and top-notch originals. DJ Blues Boy Bryden rounds off the evening spinning classic vinyl.
The Railway Social Club is well known for its regular swing dance and Northern soul nights, and it has a sprung dance floor, so it's a venue that expects people to get up and move rather than just sit and listen. That fits the bill here: the Southern Slamdoor Band's set is built on boogie and boogaloo, styles that lean heavily on a danceable beat, and the whole evening is billed as Blues, Boogie and Boogaloo!.
