Farewell gig by electronic music project Ivy Lab, fusing hip-hop with drum & bass and dubstep.
Ivy Lab play Volks Club on Saturday 28 November, part of their farewell tour. It's a late one, starting at 23:00, and it's one of the final shows they'll ever do under the name.
Ivy Lab is the collaborative project of Sabre and Stray, and the two of them are the only ones on the bill. They've been working together since 2012, and for over a decade they've built their sound around a specific kind of crossover: hip-hop fused with drum & bass, dubstep and 140. It's that middle ground where the slower, heavier weight of the 140 and dubstep scenes meets the faster breakbeats of drum & bass, all held together by a hip-hop sensibility. They've spent those years pushing electronic music forward both with their own productions and through their label, 20/20.
This tour is their final run of shows, so this is one of the last chances to catch them live. If you've followed them since the early days, it's a good time to see them one more time; if you're coming to them later, it's a chance to hear that sound in the room before they call it a day. The set will be Sabre and Stray together, playing out the project they've spent more than a decade building.
