A quiet ink drawing workshop with coffee, held alongside the 'Traces of Being' exhibition, focusing on slowing down and tracing what remains.
If you’re looking for a way to slow down and get creative next month, Phoenix Art Space has something interesting coming up. On Friday, February 27, 2026, they are hosting the Ink and Coffee Creative Workshop. This isn't just a standard art class; it’s designed as a quiet drawing session focused on using ink and coffee to 'trace what remains'—a nice concept for taking a break from the usual pace. The workshop runs alongside the exhibition, Traces of Being: Stories in Ink and Coffee, which is on display in the Window Gallery from February 6th to March 1st, giving the session a bit of context.

The workshop, led by Xin Harper-Little, is happening in the Red Room on the ground floor of Phoenix Art Space, located at 10–14 Waterloo Place. They’ve set up three separate 50-minute sessions throughout the afternoon: you can choose between 2:30 PM, 3:30 PM, or 4:30 PM. The best part is that the event is completely Free, making it a great low-commitment activity. However, because spaces are limited, you absolutely need to book your spot beforehand to guarantee a seat.
You don't need to worry about bringing supplies; they provide all the materials, including Chinese ink, brushes, coffee, and a variety of papers so you can experiment with different marks and textures. It’s open to all skill levels, so whether you’re a seasoned artist or just curious about ink drawing, you’re welcome to join. The workshop is suitable for adults and youth, but if you plan on bringing anyone under 16, they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and both the child and the adult need to reserve a ticket. For those concerned about access, the Red Room, along with the galleries, cafe, and toilets on the ground floor, is wheelchair accessible.
