Immersive live music show in complete darkness, with 30 unamplified musicians and vocalists playing HUSH, the original In The Dark production.
In The Dark comes to All Saints Church in Hove on Saturday 14 November, with two performances on the one night: the first from 6:00 to 7:15pm and the second from 8:15 to 9:30pm. The production they're bringing is HUSH, the original piece the company started with.
The setup is pretty straightforward: you step into complete darkness and wear an eye mask, so there's no stage to look at and no lighting to follow. With your sight gone, the music becomes the only thing to guide you. The sound comes from 30 live, unamplified musicians and vocalists, drawn from London's West End, the Royal College of Music, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and other leading institutions. Because they're unamplified, the building itself does a lot of the work, with the natural acoustics of the space shaping how the sound reaches you.
HUSH is the company's original production, built around the idea of slowing down and switching off the outside world. It's now touring cathedrals and historic spaces across the UK, and there's a second, more propulsive, rhythm-driven chapter called PULSE that builds on it.
