Join actor and master storyteller Rob Marks for an 80-minute walk around Brighton's famous historic lanes, visiting eight haunted sites.
Walking through The Lanes after dark has a different feel to it, and the Ghost Walk of The Lanes has been leaning into that atmosphere since Rob Marks founded the tour in 2008. It is currently the longest-running ghost walk in the city, led by a team of actors including Marks himself, who takes on the persona of Silas. You might also encounter Andrew Allen as Jasper, Marielle Holman as Rose, or guides Julian Clapp and Adrian Jameson. They all dress in traditional Victorian attire, which adds a specific visual layer to the 70 to 80-minute route. The walk isn't just about jump scares; it’s a blend of documented poltergeist cases, local hauntings, and historical crimes, often told with a bit of observational comedy to keep things balanced.

The group meets at The Druid’s Head pub in Brighton Place, with tours departing at 19:30 every Wednesday through Saturday. There is no requirement to book in advance for these public sessions, making it a flexible option if you find yourself in the centre of Brighton on a weekday evening. The route visits eight different locations, including well-known spots like the Brighton Old Town Hall, The Black Lion, and The Cricketers. Because the tour stays within the historic quarter, the terrain is accessible for wheelchair users and those with guide dogs, and the stories are generally considered suitable for all ages.
For the 2026 season, the pricing is set at £12 for adults, £10 for seniors over 65, and £8 for students and under-16s. There is also a family ticket available for £32. For those who prefer a more tailored experience or want to visit on a Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday, private tours can be arranged any day of the week for a flat fee between £120 and £200. If the stories pique your interest, Rob Marks has compiled much of his research into a book titled The Ghosts of Brighton’s Lanes. The latest edition includes 26 different accounts and photographs of the area, providing a bit more context for the tales shared during the walk.
