A chilling Victorian ghost story about a haunting at a lodging house, performed at The Lantern Theatre.
Ghost Light comes to The Lantern Theatre on Saturday 31 October, with two performances that evening at 7:00pm and 9:00pm. It's a Victorian ghost story from Orange Works, and given the date, it's a proper Halloween night out.
The play is set in the gaslit shadows of 1865 London. It follows Henry Webster, who joins the notorious London Ghost Club in the hope of meeting Charles Dickens, only to cross paths with Edward Price and find himself drawn into investigating a haunting at an East End lodging house, where the ghosts of two young children wander the halls by night. It draws on the classic ghost stories of M.R. James and Charles Dickens, and is billed as atmospheric and spooky. The British Theatre Guide called it an 'ingenious tale of horror', and The Derek Awards described it as a 'hidden gem'.
Orange Works is a new-writing company based in the Tonbridge area of Kent, and this is one of six original plays they've produced over the last decade. They've taken their work to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the Faversham Fringe, and to venues across Kent and London.

The show runs 55 minutes and is suitable for ages 13 and over. With two showings on the same night, you can pick the 7:00pm or the 9:00pm slot. The Lantern Theatre is in Brighton, BN2 1PA.
