An original murder mystery supper evening by Touched Theatre set on the historic Volk's Electric Railway in 1937, featuring a two-course meal and a short railway ride.
Touched Theatre are bringing Murder on the Volk's back to the Volk's Electric Railway Viewing Gallery on Wednesday 21 October, their original murder mystery returning after selling out in 2025. It's set in 1937, and the whole thing is built around the railway itself—the oldest working electric railway in the world, the creation of the town's founding father, Magnus Volk. His shadow still hangs over a Brighton that's cleaning up its slumlands and racecourse, while the clouds of war gather on the horizon.
The show was co-written with a working Volk's railway driver, and it's been refreshed and updated since its first run. You're invited to a wedding reception that turns murderous, and the night includes a two-course supper and a short ride on the railway itself. Inter-war chic is warmly encouraged, from gangsters and railway men to wedding fascinators, so it's one of those nights where you can actually dress up for it.
One thing to keep in mind: parts of the performance are currently inaccessible for wheelchair users and those with mobility difficulties. If that's a concern, it's worth checking in before you book.
