The Elmore Quartet, a British group currently based in London, has built a strong reputation, including winning Third Prize at the Paolo Borciani International String Quartet Competition in 2024. They are known for their commitment to chamber music, having recorded for BBC Radio 3 and performed in venues like Wigmore Hall. Beyond their main stage performances, they also focus on bringing quality music to communities that might not typically have access to chamber music, which adds an interesting dimension to their work.
For this performance, the quartet has put together a compelling program that spans classical and 20th-century works. They will open with Joseph Haydn’s String Quartet Op.76 No.5 in D Major, followed by Béla Bartók’s intense String Quartet No.3 Sz.85. The concert will conclude with Ludwig van Beethoven’s String Quartet No.12 Op.127 in E flat Major, which is recognized as the first of his late quartets.
Regarding tickets, individual entry is £22.00, or £20.00 if you qualify for concessions. If you plan on attending more events in the series, a '3 Concert Saver' package is available for £57.00 (£51.00 with concessions). It is worth noting that the event, which is in association with Strings Attached, actively promotes accessibility for younger audiences: free tickets are available for those aged 8 to 25, funded by Strings Attached. When booking, keep in mind there is a £3.50 charge per order for telephone and online reservations, though this fee is waived for members of Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival. The season itself is supported by Margaret Polmear in memory of Andrew Polmear.
