Candlelight: Christmas Movie Soundtracks

The Sussex String Quartet are playing Christmas movie soundtracks at the Royal Pavilion on Saturday 12 December, part of the Candlelight concert series. The whole thing runs for an hour, with doors opening 45 minutes before the start, and the quartet plays under candlelight throughout.

The setlist pulls from a few different eras of Christmas cinema. You'll get the classics like White Christmas, Silver Bells, Winter Wonderland, and Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!, alongside Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and The Chipmunk Song. There's a Nightmare Before Christmas medley, Believe from The Polar Express, and You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch. It also touches on A Charlie Brown Christmas with Christmas Time Is Here and Skating, and Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas with Where Are You Christmas?, with Jingle Bell Rock rounding it out. The organisers list the repertoire as Classical, Candlelight, Fever Originals and Christmas/Holiday Events.

The venue is the Royal Pavilion, a Grade I listed landmark built in 1787 in the style of French neoclassical architecture, once used by King George IV as a summer retreat and home to grand chandeliers and priceless artwork. It's wheelchair accessible, and seating is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis within each zone. The show is recommended for ages 8 and over, with under-16s accompanied by an adult.

Tickets start from £28, and the concert begins at 7:00 PM on Saturday 12 December.
