Drum and bass night with headliner Hazard, Evil B and JFB, powered by an RC1 soundsystem.
Degs & Friends returns to The Volks Club on Saturday 12 September, with the night starting at 23:00. It's the fourth time the night has run at the venue, which the organisers call its 'spiritual home' after three sold-out editions. The whole thing is powered by an RC1 soundsystem, and the bill runs across the drum & bass spectrum.
Headlining is Hazard, one of the pioneers of modern drum & bass and the man behind multiple anthems. He's joined by mic master Evil B and DMC Champion JFB, with support from Oko, Hologram, PVC and more. Between the headliners and the support, the night covers a fair bit of ground within the genre.
The night takes its name from Degs (Dave Jenkins), a multi-instrumentalist MC, singer, writer and producer from Horsham. He signed to Hospital Records after his work on Logistics' album Safe In Your Arms caught the label's attention, and followed it with his first proper Hospital single, Poveglia, which he wrote, arranged and sang himself, with production by his studio man De:Tune. Before that, he released an album with his brother Matt as Kikuyu Soul. He started rapping to drum & bass in 2007 and eventually left a corporate sales job to pursue music full-time.
