A comedy show narrating the true story of a data collector who travelled the world recording supermarket prices using a Dictaphone.
If you have been looking for something a bit different to catch during this year's Brighton Fringe, there is a show coming up at the Caroline of Brunswick that caught my eye. It is called Dan Kelly: How I Went to Every Supermarket in the World. The premise is fairly straightforward: Dan Kelly, who you might recognise if you saw his previous show about running in the North Korean Marathon, recounts his real-life experience working as a data collector. He spent his time travelling globally, using a Dictaphone to record prices in supermarkets. It is essentially a storytelling show about that specific, somewhat unusual job.

The performances are scheduled for the 30th and 31st of May 2026, with the show starting at 16:30. The venue, Laughing Horse at the Caroline of Brunswick, is hosting it as part of their wider programme. Regarding the logistics, they are operating on a 'Pay What You Want' model. While there is a base price starting at £7, the system allows for flexibility. You can book your spot in advance to make sure you have a seat, which is generally the safer bet, though they do leave space for people to walk in if the room is not at capacity.
It is worth noting that this is an 18+ event, and they have a strict policy against anyone under the age of two being present. Also, if you are sensitive to language, the show does feature strong language throughout. It is a specific kind of show—a mix of travelogue and personal anecdote—so if you enjoy hearing about people’s odd career paths or travel stories, this might be one to consider adding to your calendar for that weekend.
