A pop-up shop featuring a curated collection of hard-to-find independent magazines from around the world, covering fashion, art, photography, music, culture, literature and niche publishing.
Cover Story is bringing a pop-up shop to Starfish & Coffee on Friday 25 September, from 17:00 to 20:00. The whole point is independent magazines, and they've pulled together a curated collection of hard-to-find titles from around the world. It's not just one thing, either: the selection covers fashion, art, photography, music, culture, literature and niche publishing, so there's plenty to dig through regardless of where your interests lie.
If you're usually a digital reader, this is a good excuse to get back into print. These aren't the glossy monthlies you'll find on a newsagent's shelf; they're the kind of small-press, independent titles that can be a bit of a hunt to track down, especially the ones coming from overseas. Having them all in one room makes it a lot easier to browse through them properly rather than hunting them down one by one.
This isn't a one-off, either. The pop-up is part of a series of events across Brighton, and the organisation is working towards creating a permanent home for independent magazines in the city. So, this is one of several stops on that journey, and the long-term aim is to give these kinds of publications a proper, lasting space here.
