A new material comedy night featuring professional and semi-professional acts, competition winners and brand-new comedians road-testing material.
Cool-Aid Comedy is back at the Caroline of Brunswick every Wednesday night, from 23 September through to 9 December. It's billed as Brighton's longest-running new material comedy night, put on by Comedy Cult, and the whole thing is built around the idea of seeing things before they're finished. The hook is a brand-new line-up every single week, so if you go more than once, you're seeing a completely different set of comics.
That new material is the point of the night. You'll find professional and semi-professional acts working through new bits, competition winners and finalists getting their time on stage, and brand-new comedians road-testing material for the first time. It's a bit of a mix, with the polished side of the circuit rubbing up against people just starting out, and because it's new material, you're hearing the jokes while they're still being shaped rather than the polished versions that end up in a tour or a special.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Brighton and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

Entry is free, so it's an easy one to drop into on a midweek evening without much to lose. Doors open at 7:30pm, and the show starts at 8:00pm, running for about two hours. They do recommend reserving a seat in advance, which is a good shout if you want to make sure you're not scrambling for a spot when you arrive. One thing to keep in mind: the room is strictly 18+, and you'll need a valid government-issued photo ID to get in, so don't forget to bring yours. If you're looking for something to do on a Wednesday, it's a low-stakes way to see what's coming up in the city's comedy scene.
