Beginner-friendly afternoon pottery session at Hot Fox Pottery to make a tea-light Christmas house, with festive snacks provided.
Hot Fox Pottery is running a Christmas pottery workshop on Saturday 5 December, from 14:00 to 17:00 at their studio on 133 Hartington Road. The afternoon is built around making a tea-light Christmas house — one of those little ceramic buildings you put a candle inside to get a warm glow coming through the windows. You can keep yours for your own mantelpiece or wrap it up as a present.
It's a small-group session, with no more than six people working at once, and beginners are welcome, so you don't need to have ever touched clay before to join in. Once the house is shaped, you finish it off with dipping glazes or colourful underglaze paints to get the look you're after. There's also a nice bit of value in the off-cuts: any clay left over can be turned into extra small gifts, like a soap dish, an incense holder or a spoon rest, so you might walk away with a few things rather than just the one.

Tea, coffee and festive snacks are provided throughout the afternoon, which keeps things easy. If you're in the mood for a full day of it, there's a full-day version available too — that adds a tea-light Christmas tree in the morning and takes £20 off the combined booking. The afternoon session is £75.00, and the studio is at 133 Hartington Road, BN2 3PA.
