Christmas Craft and Chat: Fabulous Festive Shadow Lantern is at Brighton Dome on Sunday 20 December, a new addition to the venue's winter programme that they've brought in by popular demand. It's a craft session for adults, so it's strictly over-18s, and the whole point is to step away from the high street and spend a bit of time making something by hand as a way of celebrating the season with friends.
The session takes 90 minutes, and you'll be making a silhouette shadow lantern — the kind that throws a pattern of light and shadow across a room when you light it, and one you can keep to brighten up those dark winter nights. All the materials are provided, so you don't need to bring anything with you, and the session is accessible to everyone, regardless of how much experience you have with crafting. If you've never made anything like this before, that's fine; you'll be guided through it.
One of the things that sets this apart from a standard workshop is that the bar stays open throughout, so you can pick a drink of your choice and sip it while you work. It's as much about the chat as the craft, and the Dome is a good spot for it. The session runs from 15:30, with doors opening at 15:00, so there's plenty of time to get settled and grab a drink before you start.
