Adult beginner dance class blending classical, contemporary and jazz technique with yoga and pilates, following the Chantraine method.
The Loft at Little Dippers hosts a Chantraine Dance class for adult beginners on Sunday 11 October, from 14:00 to 16:00. It's a monthly session, so if you can't make this one, there'll be another soon after. The venue is in the North Laine, at 40-42 Upper Gardner Street, BN1 4AN.
The class is built around the Chantraine method, which pulls together classical, contemporary and jazz dance and mixes them with elements of yoga and pilates. It's aimed at adult beginners, so you don't need to have danced before to join in. The approach is as much about how you move as what you're doing; it's described as encouraging a deep connection with yourself, with the people around you and with the natural world.
Over the course of the session, you'll learn choreographies by Françoise Chantraine, the choreographer and founder of the Chantraine School. The teaching follows the Chantraine 'five times of life', a framework that shapes how the movements are taught and built up. Because it's a monthly class rather than a one-off workshop, it's something you can keep coming back to and build on over time.
