A hands-on half-day stained glass workshop where participants learn traditional techniques like cutting, foiling, and soldering to create their own suncatcher.
If you have been looking for a way to spend a morning or afternoon in Brighton that involves getting your hands a bit busy, there is a stained glass workshop running throughout June and into early July. It is part of the 'City Uncovered: Brighton' series and takes place at the Blue Skies Glass Studio, which is located at 18 Eley Crescent in Rottingdean. It is a fairly intimate setup, focusing on the basics of the craft, which makes it accessible if you have never tried working with glass before.

The sessions are designed as half-day tasters, lasting about three hours and thirty minutes. During that time, you go through the standard steps of the process: designing your piece, cutting the glass, and then moving on to the copper foiling and soldering. By the end of the session, you walk away with your own finished suncatcher. They run these workshops twice a day, with morning slots from 09:00 to 12:30 and afternoon sessions from 14:00 to 17:30. Since you are working with glass and soldering tools, it is worth wearing comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes, as you will be standing and working at a bench for most of the time.
Regarding the logistics, the workshop is open to anyone aged 16 and over. The cost is 90 GBP for a single person, though there are tiered prices if you are going with others: 150 GBP for two people or 210 GBP for three. This price covers all the materials you need and the final finishing of your piece. The dates are currently set from the 1st to the 14th of June 2026, with availability extending until the 5th of July 2026. If your plans change, there is a cancellation policy in place that allows for a full refund as long as you cancel at least seven days before the scheduled date, though this does not apply to gift card bookings.
