A multi-sensory musical experience where the Sussex String Quartet performs Michael Jackson hits under the gentle glow of candlelight at the historic Royal Pavilion.
The Sussex String Quartet are playing a tribute to Michael Jackson at the Royal Pavilion on Saturday 21 November, one of the Candlelight concert series that bring live music into some of the city's most distinctive spaces. The Pavilion is a royal palace built as a seaside retreat for King George IV, known for its Indo-Saracenic exterior and Chinese-inspired interiors like the Music Room and the Banqueting Room. The quartet plays under the glow of candlelight, and the room fills on a first-come, first-served basis.
The tentative programme covers a wide stretch of Jackson's career, from the early Motown days with 'I Want You Back' through to the Thriller and Bad eras. 'Rock With You', 'Human Nature', 'Billie Jean', 'Say Say Say', 'We Are the World', 'Man in the Mirror', 'Smooth Criminal', 'Black or White', 'Heal the World', 'Remember the Time', 'Bad', 'Earth Song', 'They Don't Really Care About Us' and 'Thriller' are all listed, so it's a good cross-section of the songs most people know. It's a tribute experience, not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Michael Jackson, his estate or official representatives.
