Candlelight: Hans Zimmer's Best Works

Candlelight: Hans Zimmer's Best Works is coming to the Royal Pavilion on Saturday 17 October, with more dates following on 14 November, 11 December, 23 January and 20 February. It's a live performance of Hans Zimmer's best works, played under the glow of candlelight in one of the city's most recognisable spaces. The show runs about an hour, and the doors open 45 minutes before it starts.

Zimmer is the 'Maestro of the Movies', and the numbers back it up: he's scored more than 100 film and television soundtracks since the 1980s, picked up an Academy Award, two Golden Globes and four Grammy Awards, and worked frequently with Christopher Nolan. He also contributed to the BBC's Planet Earth II. The programme for this run is expected to pull from that wide reach, with pieces like 'Time' from Inception, 'This Land' from The Lion King, 'Supermarine' from Dunkirk, 'Cornfield Chase' from Interstellar, and suites from Dune, Gladiator and Pirates of the Caribbean, along with 'Now We Are Free'. Just a heads-up: that set list isn't confirmed for this edition, so it's a guide rather than a guarantee.

Candlelight concerts are presented as live, multi-sensory musical experiences that take the music of a featured artist to locations not usually used for this purpose, performed under candlelight. It's recommended for ages 8 and over, with under-16s needing to be accompanied by an adult. Seating is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis within each zone, so if you're keen on a particular spot, it's worth getting there early.
