Brighton and Hove Rock Choir

Brighton and Hove Rock Choir are holding a free taster session at Central United Reformed Church on Thursday 9 July, starting at 10:00. It's a community singing session, not a classical concert, and it's led by singer and pianist Natasha Graimes. If you've never heard of them, Rock Choir is a community singing group that works with adults who enjoy singing but aren't necessarily looking for a formal choir. They describe the atmosphere as friendly and welcoming, and the session is aimed at people who might not have considered joining a choir or singing for fun before.

What you get is an hour and a half of singing tuition each week, taught in a relaxed, social setting. It's not about auditions or reading music; it's about getting a group of voices together and singing. There's a bit of a story behind the name, too. Rock Choir is the UK's leading community singing group, and they've picked up a fair few accolades along the way: they won the Red Ribbon Big Heart award, and they hold one previous and two current Guinness World Records. They're often credited with starting the contemporary choir movement in the UK, so they've been at this for a while.
