Breaking Open Jam: with BGirl Ambush

BGirl Ambush is running a breaking series at South East Dance on Kensington Street, starting Monday 20 July and continuing through to 21 December. It's called Breaking Open Jam, and it's set up as a workshop and jam rather than a sit-down performance, so you're there to get on the floor and move, not to watch from a seat.

Ambush is a Red Bull BC One competitor, a sponsored athlete, and a professional dancer who's built her practice in the streets, in battles, and on theatre stages. She's also part of Risky Business in London. The sessions are open to all levels, from absolute beginners to pros, and the whole point is to work with her to grow your skills, find your own personal style, and build the kind of confidence that carries over into any cypher or battle setting.

In practice, that means the focus is on sharing floor experience, sharpening your floorwork, and improving how you respond to music in a live jam environment. It's less about following a set routine and more about the exchange that happens when you're actually dancing with other people. If you've been dancing on your own or just want to get more comfortable in a group, this is exactly the kind of thing that helps you bridge that gap.

It runs from 20 July to 21 December at South East Dance, 28 Kensington Street, BN1 4AJ, and costs £15.00 per session.
