Boxing Club make their Brighton debut at The Pipeline on Saturday 29 August, their first-ever headline slot. They're coming over from London, and they've got Lovin' Cups and Paris '68 on the bill with them, so it's a full night of three bands rather than a single act. The whole thing is put on by Filthy Promotions.
Boxing Club grew out of London's underground gig circuit, built on a steady run of live shows and independent releases. They cite Fontaines D.C., IDLES and The Fall as influences, and you can hear that in the way they describe their own sound: jagged riffs, restless energy and a no-frills punch to the gut. It's the kind of music that sits somewhere between chaos and control, and they reckon it's best suited to tight rooms and loud nights — which fits the bill for a headline debut at The Pipeline.
