Borrowed: A Group Painting Exhibition

Borrowed is a group painting exhibition running at Lock In on Little Western Street from 22 to 28 August. It brings together five artists, each working around the same starting point: the instability of home. The title itself points to the core of the show — the idea that the home we remember often no longer exists in the form we carry with us.

From there, the five artists take different paths. Some trace changing landscapes and environments, while others look at cultural dissonance, mediated memory and the emotional distance that opens up when you move between identities or places. Together, the works consider what gets left behind in the pursuit of opportunity and the ways nostalgia can reshape how we understand home. It's five interconnected perspectives on memory, belonging and change, rather than a single, unified statement.

Because each artist approaches the theme from a different angle, the exhibition works as a conversation between them. You'll see how one person's focus on the physical landscape sits alongside another's look at the internal, emotional distance of moving on. Lock In is on Little Western Street (BN1 2PU), and the exhibition runs daily from 13:00 to 18:00 throughout the week, from Saturday 22 to Friday 28 August. Entry is free.
