Album launch show with a live session by Antony Szmierek at the independent record shop Resident Music in Brighton's North Laine.
Antony Szmierek is playing Resident Music on Thursday 20 August, an album launch show that doubles as a live session. It's the first time he's brought the new record to the North Laine, and the whole night is built around it.
Szmierek is a Manchester-born poet, producer, and beatmaker who spent his previous life as an English teacher. That background comes through in the way he works with words, and the beatmaking side handles the music. He released a critically acclaimed debut album in 2025, and this show is the live follow-up to that release. It's a live session, so the focus is on the music itself rather than a big stage production.
Resident Music is hosting the night, and they're a multi-award-winning record shop in the heart of Brighton's North Laine. They're just a five-minute walk from the station, and they're known for running intimate events right on their shopfloor — live performances, signings, Q&As, and meet & greets across all genres. The space holds 180, so it's small enough that you're close to the performance without it feeling cramped.
