A 60-minute drag theatre adaptation of 'Little Lord Fauntleroy' by Jordana Belaiche, set at a boarding school for bad boys.
Jordana Belaiche brings Little Lord Fondleroy to The Lantern Theatre on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 November, two nights at 21:00. It's a drag theatre adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett's Victorian novel Little Lord Fauntleroy, though the title change gives you a fair idea of the direction it's taking.
The story is set at Flippitts' Darstardly Boarding School for Badly Behaved Boys, and it follows Fondleroy, whose cherubic charm and perfect manners hide a longing for poetry, pleasure and theatrical chaos. From there, the show mixes drag, theatre and music to air the queer desires the original story represses. It runs for 60 minutes, so it's a relatively tight hour rather than a full evening's commitment.
There are a few things to keep in mind before you book. It's recommended for ages 16 and over, and there are content warnings for blood, references to sexual and physical abuse and violence, as well as classism and sexism. If those are deal-breakers, it's worth knowing upfront.
