A brand-new musical based on Oscar Wilde's gothic tale, starring Kevin Kennedy as Mr Isaacs, set in Victorian London.
The Picture of Dorian Gray: A New Musical comes to the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre on Friday 12 February 2027, at 7:30pm. It's a brand-new musical based on Oscar Wilde's gothic novel, and the production aims to stay faithful to the original story, with an original score that brings Victorian London to life.
If you're familiar with the book, you know the gist: Dorian Gray stays outwardly untouched by time and vice, while his fate becomes bound to a mysterious portrait in which his true soul etches itself. Pushed by the influential Lord Henry Wotton, he descends into a debauched lifestyle of questionable morality. It's a dark, psychological piece of writing, and seeing it worked into a musical is a bit of a departure from the usual fare.
Kevin Kennedy takes the role of Mr Isaacs. He's a face you'll likely recognise from Rock of Ages, We Will Rock You, and Coronation Street, so he's well-versed in both the musical theatre and TV sides of things. He'll be playing a supporting part in a story that centres on Dorian's slow unraveling.
