Showtime Future Stars

Showtime Future Stars comes to the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre on Sunday 27 September, a one-night-only dance showcase that brings together dance schools from across the UK. It's a programme created by dance school principals for dance school families, and the whole thing is produced to high professional standards. The stage welcomes dancers aged five and up, of all abilities, so you'll see a real range of ages and experience levels in one go.

The bill covers a good spread of styles — ballet, jazz, hip-hop and contemporary — with acts running from young dancers taking their first steps on stage to seasoned performers. Each school gets about ten minutes of stage time, split between Act One, Act Two and the finale, so the show moves through different schools and styles rather than sticking to one thing for too long.

There are a couple of house rules that set it apart from your usual dance recital: there's a strict no tap dancing and no glitter rule, and each school gets up to eight free radio mics. The venue is the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre on Westover Road, an art deco building that seats around 1,450, so it's a proper theatre stage for the schools to perform on.

There are two performances on the day: a matinee at 2:30pm and an evening show, so you can pick the one that suits you best. Tickets start from £29.75.
