The Samhain Witch Market takes over The Royal Arcade in Boscombe on Saturday 31 October, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. It's put on by Anathema, a dedicated witchcraft emporium, as part of their wider programme of witch markets, magical talks and workshops.
The market is built around Samhain, the Celtic festival of the dead, which Anathema describes as a time when the veil thins and a moment of remembrance, reflection and transformation arrives. It's an occasion for honouring ancestors and the unseen, with folklore and seasonal symbolism at its heart. The atmosphere is meant to bring together ghosts, lanterns, pumpkins, gothic touches, old stories and quiet reverence.
They bill it as a celebration of the weird, the wonderful and the wickedly creative, gathering tarot readers, artists, authors, makers, mystics and purveyors of all things bizarre, with treasures conjured up by local stallholders.
