Littledown Family Fun Day

The Littledown Family Fun Day returns to Littledown Leisure Centre and Littledown Park on Sunday 26 July, marking its 11th year. It's a free day out run by BH Live, the registered charity that operates the centre, in partnership with BCP Council. Since it launched, it's become a bit of a local fixture, with over 100,000 people passing through over the years.

The character line-up is the biggest draw: more than 50 costumed characters will be around, including Dreygo the Dragon, Merlin, K-Pop-inspired favourites, Minky Moos, Little Gizmos, and full-size Transformers. If you've got kids, that's usually where they'll spend most of their time. There's a dinosaur and science side to things too, with Tank the Triceratops and Richie the Raptor on hand, a fossil-digging zone, and live science demonstrations.

For those who'd rather plug in, there are free VR experiences running throughout the day: Dino Trek, Super Smash Bros Showdown, VR Skiing, and Beat Saber. Beyond that, the schedule fills out with magic shows, the Lovely Bubbly bubble show, a silent disco, live stage performances, funfair rides, inflatables, and football tournaments. It's spread across the centre and the 47 acres of parkland surrounding it, so there's plenty of room to move between the different zones without feeling too crowded.

Littledown itself is a National Fitness Award winner and one of the UK's top-performing leisure facilities, and the fun day is designed as a free-to-attend event for the community, made possible through the support of various sponsors and partners. It's a full day of entertainment for all ages, and since it's free, it's an easy one to drop into for a few hours or stay for the whole thing.
