Hip Hop & House with Rich Smith & Live DJ

Rich Smith takes over the terrace at Pavilion Dance South West on Friday 21 August, with a live DJ on the decks for a night of Hip Hop and House. It's part of the Dancing Terraces series, which runs every Friday and Saturday throughout August, from the 7th to the 29th, with different sessions, performances and DJ sets each night. Smith's session falls on the Friday, and the whole thing is free.

If you're not familiar with the series, it's a bit of a summer fixture for the local dance community. The sessions run from 19:00 to 21:00, and the styles shift from night to night — you'll find Hip Hop and House alongside Latin, African, Ceilidh, Salsa, Bollywood and Vintage Jazz. Smith's night is one of those, with the live DJ keeping things moving while you dance.

It's an all-ages affair, described as fun for the whole family, so it's as much about bringing friends as it is about the dancing itself. There's no need to book in advance, and you don't need any previous experience to join in — you just turn up and get stuck in. The whole thing takes place outdoors on the Garden Terrace at Pavilion Dance South West in Bournemouth (Dorset, BH1 2BU), which is where the Dancing Terraces name comes from.
