A family-friendly festival promoting mental health, physical wellbeing and community connection with interactive activities like yoga, dance and mindfulness.
The Festival of Wellbeing returns to Boscombe Chine Gardens on Friday 7 August, from 1pm to 4pm. It's run by BCHA, the housing association that works across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, and it brings together local organisations from across the BCP patch to promote mental health, physical wellbeing and community connection.
The day is built around a few clear themes: connecting with others, staying active, learning new skills and practising mindfulness. There's a fair bit to actually do rather than just look at. You'll find yoga and dance sessions, circus skills, tightrope walking, hair braiding and face glitter, alongside information stalls from local charities and support services. It's an alcohol-free, family-friendly afternoon, so it's as much for kids as it is for adults.
There's a bit of history to it too. The festival dates back to 2014, when BCHA Learn Manager Jamie Clarke first helped organise it, and he says it remains one of the highlights of his year. That long run gives it a bit of a local tradition feel rather than just another one-off event.
