An inclusive, magical circus show designed for children with disabilities, featuring juggling and BMX tricks in a relaxed environment.
Circus Starr are performing at The Hub at Talbot Heath School in Bournemouth on Sunday 20 September, with two shows at 1.30pm and 4pm. This year's production is billed as an underwater adventure, and it's a free event, funded by donations from community-focused businesses.
Circus Starr is a charity that brings live entertainment to children with disabilities, additional learning needs, or other challenges. The shows run in a relaxed, inclusive environment, with British Sign Language interpretation, reduced lighting, and lower sound levels—all designed for children who might otherwise miss out on a live performance. Trustee Michelle Crossley has described the impact the event can have on those children as 'truly amazing'.
If you're wondering what to expect, the show is built around a circus format, with the ringmistress, the clowns, and the acrobats taking centre stage. It's a family-friendly afternoon, and the relaxed setting means you can bring children who might find a typical theatre or circus too loud or overwhelming. The two showtimes—1.30pm and 4pm—give you a choice of when to head over, and since it's a Sunday, it's an easy one to fit into the weekend.
