If you've not come across it before, a ceilidh is a traditional social dance, and the whole point is to get involved rather than watch from the sidelines. You don't need any previous experience to join in, and there's no need to book ahead—you just turn up and follow the moves as they're called out. It's designed for all ages, so it works as much for a family outing as it does for a night out with friends.
Dancing Terraces is a broader programme of outdoor dancing at the venue, with different styles taking over on different nights. Over the course of the series, the music shifts from hip hop and house to Latin and African rhythms, and then to the folk of the ceilidh. Each session combines live music, dancing, performances, and DJ sets, and they're all open to everyone.
This session runs from 19:00 to 21:00 at The Garden Terrace of Pavilion Dance South West, Bournemouth, Dorset, BH1 2BU. It's free to attend, no booking required, and you don't need to know any of the steps to get on the floor.
