Annual late-night craft market with stalls from local makers, designers and artists across Ikon.
Ikon Gallery's Winter Craft Market returns on Thursday 3 December, taking over the gallery for a late-night shopping evening. It's their annual craft market, and this time it's filling the space with independent makers, crafters and artists from across the West Midlands. They'll be selling jewellery, homeware, prints, cards and unique gifts, so it's a good spot to pick up something a bit different for the Christmas run-up.
The venue itself is a big part of the evening. Ikon Gallery is Birmingham's leading contemporary art space, housed in a dramatic Victorian building that used to be a boarding school. Inside, you'll find the city's only independent arts bookshop and a cafe, as well as the singing lift by Turner Prize winner Martin Creed, which is one of those things you have to experience in person to really get. The market takes over the gallery, so you can wander through the stalls and the building at the same time.

It runs from 5.00pm to 8.00pm, which makes it a late-night shopping experience rather than a full-day fair. Entry is free, with donations welcome, and there's no need to book—you can just drop in whenever suits you. If you're looking for something a bit more thoughtful than the high street for your Christmas shopping, this is a solid bet. It's on Thursday 3 December, 5.00pm to 8.00pm at Ikon Gallery, 1 Oozells Square, Brindleyplace, Birmingham, B1 2HS.
