A tribute show celebrating the music of ABBA with live cast, band, costumes and choreography.
Waterloo - A Tribute to ABBA comes to Utilita Arena Birmingham on Thursday 10 December, presented by SHOWPLANR. It's a two-hour live show that looks back at the rise of the Swedish pop group, and it's a tribute production rather than an official one β it's not affiliated with or endorsed by the ABBA Estate.
The production is built around a full live cast and band, with costumes and choreography that follow the songs. The lyrics, written by Benny Andersson and BjΓΆrn Ulvaeus, are sung in harmony, and the set includes hits like Waterloo, Mamma Mia and Voulez-Vous. It's a full-cast show rather than a small band, so the costumes and the dancing are as much a part of it as the music.
Because it's a tribute, the focus is on the songs and the sound rather than the original members. The two-hour runtime gives it room to work through the hits and the story of how the group became a household name, with the live band and cast carrying the whole thing. If you're into the music, it's a way to hear those songs played live in a big room.
